Melissa Bright
Melissa is a devoted wife and mother of two. She has been working with Dr. Hicks since 1998. Melissa is the office manager and keeps the office running smoothly each day. She was employed as a front office person in a veterinary clinic in Key West, Florida for five years. The family was then transferred from Key West to Mobile with the Coast Guard, from which her husband, Philip, is now retired. Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and children, Katlyn and Christopher, shopping and lounging by the pool with the family dogs, Chubbie, Lucky and Furgie.
Cheryle Jacobs
Cherlye is our treatment coordinator. She has been with Dr. Hicks since 1997 and has worked as an orthodontic assistant for 30 years. She will introduce you to Dr. Hicks and assist in making the arrangements to begin orthodontic treatment. Cheryle is a native Mobilian, and is married, the mother of two children, and has a menagerie of animals. She enjoys gardening, camping and going to the beach.
Amelia Favier
Amelia has been working for Dr. Hicks and Dr. McMurphy for seven years. She initially worked as an assistant. Amelia now works in the lab, where she is responsible for all appliances and model work. She is also the office photographer.
Bonnie Pelusio
Bonnie moved to Mobile eight years ago from New Jersey to be closer to her parents. She bought a home in Semmes and shares it with her Miniature Schnauzer “Snickers.”
Bonnie has been working in the orthodontic field for 33 years and is going on her 22nd year for orthodontic certification. Having gone through orthodontics as a child herself, she feels very good about what she does and how orthodontics can help create that beautiful smile and shape peoples lives for a lifetime.
Michele Wood
Michele is one of our orthodontic assistants. She has ten years experience in the field. She is a graduate of Theodore High School, and has an associate’s degree in office administration from Southeast College of Technology. She and her husband Kevin have one daughter, Rachael.
Sandy Lamb
Sandy Lamb is a lifelong resident of Mobile. She has her Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of South Alabama. Sandy has provided bookkeeping services and financial management services on a consulting basis to the practice for over 7 years. She is married to Ernest Lamb and has three children: Justin, Katie Beth, and Price. When not working, Sandy enjoys spending time with her family and boating in the spring and summer.
Daneen Smitherman
Daneen was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, but grew up in the Mobile area. She has been married to her husband, Wendel for 14 years and they have two boys, Caleb and Ethan. She graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She has been in the orthodontic field for 11 years as both an assistant and a financial coordinator. She has been employed with Drs. Hicks and McMurphy for 5 years. First and foremost, she loves to spend time with her family. She also loves yardwork and all outdoor activities.
Heather Hodge
Heather is an orthodontic assistant/dental hygienist. She has a degree from Faulkner State Community College in dental assisting, and a certificate in dental hygiene. She has worked for Drs. Hicks and McMurphy for 5 years. She is married to Rusty, a mobile police officer and they have a wonderful little boy, Grayson Samuel. They have a full house with a Husky, a mini-Dachshund, and a Cockatiel named Elvis who sings the Andy Griffith theme song!
Jamie Thomas
Jamie is a native Mobilian. She has been married for 16 years to a local firefighter and have three children. She has worked in the orthodontic field for 11 years. During her free time, she enjoys gardening and scrapbooking.
Jamie Ide
Jamie is our Marketing Coordinator. A North Carolina State Graduate, who's worked as a Marketing Manager for such companies as Turner Sports and vitaminwater, is enjoying being the newest member of the team. Jamie moved to the Eastern Shore in 2008 and lives with her husband and two children, Presley and Brody. She enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor sports and reading.
Katlyn Peek
Katlyn is one of our Appointment Coordinators. She has been married for a year and a half to her husband, Brent. They have three dogs; Abby, Joe, and Bama, and a cat, Max. In her spare time, she loves to be with her friends and family at home or at the beach.
Blair Martin
Blair is one of our orthodontic assistants. She is a certified and registered assistant with 8 years experiece. Blair is originally from Memphis, TN. She moved to Mobile due to her husband's position in the Coast Guard. Blair has been married to her husband, Rick, for 8 years and they have a wonderful 3 year old son, Carson. In her free time, she enjoys painting, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Tara Latham
Tara is one of our orthodontic assistants. She is a lifelong resident of Mobile. She has 5 years experience in the medical/dental field. Tara and her husband Gene just bought their first home and share it with their chocolate lab, Darby. Tara enjoys spending her free time with friends and family, especially her 2 year old nephew, Alex.
Hannah Favier
Hannah is the office scheduling coordinator. She graduated from Murphy High School in 2008, and will be entering her fourth year at Spring Hill Cottage this fall as a Nursing school student. She has grown up around Dr. Hicks and Dr. McMurphy's office with her mom, Amelia, who has worked here for 10 years. Also, she proudly thanks the staff and Doctors for her beautiful smile.
