Emergency Info

Occasionally you may have an orthodontic emergency that you may be able to solve temporarily by yourself until you schedule a repair appointment with our office. The following suggestions will outline some of the ways to handle minor problems with your appliances or braces.

Bands & Brackets

If a band or bracket is still attached to the wire, leave it in place. If the broken appliance is causing you pain, place wax on it. If the appliance comes out completely, wrap the band or bracket in tissue and bring it to your appointment.

Arch Wires

If the arch wire comes out of the braces, try to place the wire back in place with tweezers. If that is not possible, clip the wire with fingernail clippers and remove. If you have a wire poking you, try to push it down with a spoon or an eraser and place wax on it.

Headgear

Usually headgear does not fit correctly when not worn as prescribed. If the face bow is bent call the office and schedule an appointment.
